Frustration at work
Just got home, still frustrated and angry about this so might as well write about it.
Being IT in-house for a production company you're always third-rate yet somehow required in everything. At this point I do less network managing than people managing and it is frustrating me to no end. Why is it seemingly impossible for others to just do as they are told and reboot the machine, or actually plug the cable into the correct network adapter. This is from the supplier IT guy no less, they should do better.
The only thing I want to receive is a MAC and confirmation that it works after, as believe me, firewall and port-access has been correct for the previous 10 devices they placed in this factory as well. But no, it's somehow my problem now and I still dont trust my manager to actually stick up for me when I say no.
This all culmulated in them not taking the hint that maybe, just maybe, it is not me, nor my colleagues, but the supplier that is fucking something up, just like them not knowing how a gateway works, and someone else just copying wrong information onto 5 other devices then blaming us. Only took multiple people multiple hours to figure that one out as we needed someone to video the screens via teams. Apologies for assuming that the basics are correct for some reason.
This factory being 800 miles away without their own IT person (only takes them 20 minutes to have someone on site, we're not even worth that) or the foresight to have one of us on site makes this all the more frustrating and preventable.
If only someone thought to include us in planning for once, fuck.
